The Steeleville Area Public Library is funded by tax levy. In the past, we have also enjoyed technical support -- such as maintenance of our computers and on-line catalog service, as well as InterLibrary Loan -- provided by the Shawnee Public Library Systems, a state funded agency. However, with recent Illinois budget cuts, Shawnee has had to drastically cut is services -- and the Library must now assume thousands of dollars of additional costs. Fund-raising is now critical if we are to maintain our services and not have to cut library hours, programs, new books, and internet access.
