For Children

  • The Library hosts special Children's Story Hour events to commemorate certain holidays. The featured stories and crafts appeal to ages K-4. Check with the Library for more information.
  • In December, the Library invites children in to have their photos taken with Santa. Children who attend also enjoy stories and crafts and go home with a goodie bag of holiday treats.
  • The Summer Reading Program brings children grades K-4 into the library in July to enjoy weekly stories, crafts, and reading challenges. The theme of the 2011 program was A Midsummer Knight’s Read. Children kept a log that encouraged their summer reading and allowed them to win free books. In line with the medieval theme, they made shields to use in a sword fight (with foam swords) and decorated a small catapult with which they launched a ferocious mini-marshmallow battle. The theme for the 2012 Summer Reading Program is Reading is Delicious.
